About this ship

Since 2021, the Vrijbuiter has been sailing through the Zeeland delta and beyond. The ship serves as a floating breeding ground throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, where creative and sustainable initiatives come together. The Vrijbuiter is a pioneer in new green sailing: it is the first certified ship that, in addition to sailing, is fully electrically powered.

You can hire the Vrijbuiter for an afternoon, evening, day, weekend or week-long trip, for a family day out, a weekend with friends, a stag or hen party or a school trip. Sail along with the skipper and mate and marvel at all the beauty the Zeeland Delta has to offer.

We can take 35 people on day trips, and we also have 18 beds for guests on board (divided into two six-person cabins and three two-person cabins). There is a cosy living area with an open kitchen and two toilets and showers.

In addition to being a charter ship, the Vrijbuiter is also a sailing cargo ship. We transport sustainably grown grain and beer, among other things, and supply festivals. We also organise educational sailing trips for young people, fish for plastic and serve as a floating stage. In addition to chartering the entire ship, you can also sail individually during a cargo expedition, an afternoon trip or an evening trip with music in the sails (live music on deck).
